2010 Service Auction: What is it? What would you buy?

The Annual Auction of Goods & Services will be on Saturday, October 16th. If you are new to the congregation, you may be wondering what this event is all about. The Service Auction is our church's largest fundraising event of the year. Local businesses and members of the congregation donate items (such as gift certificates, tickets, themed gift baskets, and jewelry) for a silent auction. In addition, goods and services are offered in the verbal auction. These include artwork, handmade food and craft items, vacation opportunities, services (like child care, classes, and manual labor), and dinners and parties. Many use the Service Auction as an opportunity to get to know other church members better and to fill their social calendars for the year upcoming, by purchasing tickets to outings, parties and dinners offered by fellow church members. The auction itself is a fun social event, which provides an evening's worth of entertainment, even if you don't plan to purchase anything. Gourmet food, beverages and child care are included in the cost of a ticket to the auction -- only $15 per person.

The planning committee is currently soliciting donations, and we need some feedback from you. What would you be interested in purchasing if it were offered? If you request it, we will do our level best to find someone to offer it. Contact Lois Weir (loisweir@aol.com, 440-725-3276) with your suggestions or for more information.
